Over two years of Ukraine’s state-funded Humanitarian Demining programme, mine action operators have cleared more than 20,000 hectares. According to the Centre for Humanitarian Demining, completed work under 106 contracts totals UAH 1.22 billion.
A further 51 hectares were returned to use in September, with completed work for the month valued at UAH 2.7 million. The Centre also signed seven new contracts for agricultural land clearance. These new contracts represent planned or ongoing work and should be distinguished from land already cleared during September.
Since the programme began, the Centre has signed 175 contracts covering nearly 34,000 hectares, with a combined contract value of UAH 2.46 billion. Work is still under way on approximately 8,300 hectares of agricultural land under 40 contracts.
These figures refer specifically to the state-funded Humanitarian Demining programme. They show the difference between completed clearance, newly signed contracts and land where clearance work is still in progress.
