Humanitarian demining remains a key part of restoring the safe use of land in Ukraine. In July 2026, mine action operators continued clearing agricultural areas under the state Humanitarian Demining programme.
July results
During the month, mine action operators cleared 210 hectares of agricultural land. Two agricultural land clearance contracts were completed, while operators received UAH 13.2 million for completed work.
The average cost of clearing one hectare under the programme in July was UAH 62,900.
New contracts and ongoing operations
In July, the Humanitarian Demining Centre signed another 14 contracts for the clearance of more than 1,400 hectares of agricultural land. The expected value of these operations is approximately UAH 170 million.
At the same time, work continued under 43 contracts covering approximately 11,700 hectares of agricultural land.
More than 16,000 hectares returned to use
By early August, 100 contracts had already been completed, returning 16,410 hectares of land to safe use. The total value of the completed work exceeded UAH 966.2 million.
Clearance of land managed by the State Land Bank has also begun. Under the signed contracts, operations include three sites in Kharkiv region with a combined area of almost 1,300 hectares, as well as a 606-hectare site in Mykolaiv region.
Safe land as a foundation for recovery
Systematic survey and clearance allow land to be returned to productive use, support the recovery of agricultural production and create safer conditions for people and local communities.
